There are those celebrity style moments that fit perfectly, and then there are the moments that really stick with you, the moments you try so hard to recreate at home. In ‘The Great Outfits in Fashion History’, Fashionista editors are revisiting their all-time favorite lewks.
Someday, I’ll give my Ted Talk about why Leighton Meester was so underrated by the fashion community during her “Gossip Girl” years. Until then, I’ll continue to use my platform to promote why her red carpet style is really the most exciting when it comes to the CW cast. (No offense to Blake Lively, who also has great taste. This is just my personal opinion.)
In April 2008, just a few months after “Gossip Girl” premiered, Meester and her co-stars became some of the most popular guests on the New York scene, appearing at almost every party. and a party in town. The specific event in question was the opening night of Met Opera: Aaperformance of Donizetti’s “La Fille Du Corps.” Now, I don’t know much about opera art, but I really enjoy that I know a thing or two about fashion, and Meester was wearing a yellow marigold dress from Stefano Pilato’s YSL – when” Yves” is still in “Saint Laurent.” (Pilato itself is another underrated fashion icon, IMO.)
It’s a beautiful color, the simple shape makes it more ready to open at night with a feather band in the same shade. Pursuing a gold tone, Meester finished off with a range of gilded accessories, including a pair of t-strap sandals.
